Some of our wonderful friends who threw one of my bridal showers introduced me to this mouth-watering cocktail. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Wedding Cake Martini! It is a piece of cake to make and it is the perfect cocktail for bridal showers, bachelorette parties and girls nights. Give it a try and let me know how you like it!
Wedding Cake Martini
For One Drink:
2 oz. vanilla vodka
1 oz. pineapple juice
1 oz. cranberry juice
1 tsp. simple syrup
For pitchers:
2 cups vanilla vodka
1 cup pineapple juice
1 cup cranberry juice
1/4 cup simple syrup, increase to taste as necessary
Mix all ingredients together and shake over ice. Moisten glasses and dip rims into sugar. Serve to your lovely lady friends and enjoy!
Note: These martinis work best in these adorable stemless glasses. I just love these glasses! We served our specialty drinks in them at our wedding… one day I will take the time to order a set of my own, but for now they are on my wish list. The gorgeous glass beverage dispenser we served them from was from Pottery Barn.

When planning a wedding or special event, the planner (or hostess) is usually looking for something to give their event that special touch. Something to set their event apart from the rest. Something to wow their guests. Delysia Chocolatier, a locally owned Austin company, specializes in custom-made gourmet chocolate truffles, the perfect wow-factor for any event. Delysia’s truffles can be customized with your logo or monogram, making the perfect favor for your guests (and likely won’t end up in the trash, like other favors sometimes do).
Earlier this spring, the ladies at BZ Events partnered up with Delysia and Thompson Poole Photography to style a photo shoot featuring Delysia’s new line of chocolate menus. Yes, you read that right, chocolate menus… completely gourmet, completely edible chocolate menus. If that doesn’t wow your guests, I’m not sure what else would. Their shoot was held at the gorgeous new Westin Hotel in the Domain in North Austin. Enjoy these photos that offer a glimpse of what Delysia can whip up for your next event.

A few years back when I was managing The Allan House, a lovely bride named Anne DeWitt had her wedding with us. Anne worked for The Cupcake Bar here in Austin. Anne has since left us for Dallas, but I thank her for introducing my sweet friend Kerry and me to quite possibly one of the most fun dessert concepts a wedding or special event can have. For most of us in the event industry in Austin, The Cupcake Bar is a familiarity. But to those of you who have never heard of The Cupcake Bar, allow me to introduce you to cupcake euphoria.
Here’s how it works in a nutshell:
First, you work with The Cupcake Bar’s event planers to customize the cupcake bar for your event. You will choose your cupcake flavors, beverages, ice cream and toppings. You even get to pick the colors and cupcake flags to coincide with your event’s theme.
Next, you entertain your event guests with a “build your own cupcake” bar. Your guests get to select their cupcake flavor, their filling of choice, their favorite icing and all of their favorite toppings.
It’s that easy. Two little steps and you are the talk of the town. Cupcakes have been a popular trend at events for the past couple of years, but The Cupcake Bar takes it to the next level allowing your guests to be a part of the fun. The Cupcake Bar takes care of all of the set up and clean up. Your job is to relax and enjoy your stress free event!

I came across these custom made stamps on etsy and immediately wished I had found these before we mailed out our wedding invitations. What a gorgeous addition to wedding stationary, or any event stationary for that matter! I do think that I will have to get one for our personal return address stamp, and maybe one with just my name to jazz up the stationary I already have. I am so excited to be posting again! Now that we have tied the knot and life has slowed down a bit, I have time to focus on my blog and other endeavors. I have a long list that I have been keeping of things that I have been wanting to write about, so be on the lookout for some fun posts ahead!
Tonight while compiling all of my thoughts and trying to figure out how to dive back into the blogosphere, Sex and the City (the movie) came on HBO. What better way to get inspired about weddings than with Carrie and the girls… not to mention how excited it made about seeing SATC 2!

I know my posts have been far and few in between since the first of the year and I just wanted to briefly explain. There is some sort of virus that is spamming our site with hundreds of comments. It is being resolved as you read this, so that shouldn’t be a problem much longer.
Also, I am getting married in 20 days!!! Our wedding planning has consumed my life, and maintaining my blog was the one thing I had to cut out of my day to be productive. So stay tuned for fresh posts coming May 2010 when I am a Mrs.!
